INOKOM VENDOR CONFERENCE 2014/15 – Working Together to Face Challenges for Future Collaboration and Success

13-Jan-2015 – Over 70 representatives from the existing Local Parts and Direct Consumables vendors have gathered at the Eastin Hotel, Penang on January 13th, to participate in the 2014/15 Inokom Vendor Conference event. This annual event, coordinated by the Inokom’s Purchasing Department, is a time for both Inokom and vendors to get together in an unwinding and casual environment. The event was held to exchange information and ideas particularly on future projects, production volume and other expectations pertaining to procurement and plant activities.

It was challenging for the team to ensure the event run smoothly as planned. At 11:00 am, vendors started to arrive at the registration counter and received a special “door gift”. Inokom was honored to receive special guests from the Sime Darby Group Procurement and Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM); En Adi Wira Abdul Razak, the Group Head of Group Procurement together with his team and Mr Lau Yit Mun, the Managing Director of HSDM to witness the event. Later, the participants were served with lunch prepared by the Eastin Hotel.

The Inokom emcee welcomed all the guests exactly at 2:00 pm signifying the commencement of the conference, followed by du’a recital and a corporate video presentation. The event started with En. Kamal Azizi Kamarudin, Head of Purchasing, Inokom Corporation Sdn. Bhd., gave his opening speech and subsequently launched the event, on behalf of the Management. En. Kamal Azizi took the opportunity to share the purchasing updates, expectation on new policies as well as to congratulate the Top 5 vendors and inspired the vendors to be more proactive at attaining a “smart partnership” status with Inokom.

The event continued with the speech by En. Mohd Rizal Jailan, Managing Director, Inokom Corporation Sdn. Bhd. welcomed the business partners and shared his thoughts on the management’s point of view. In his speech, he highlighted the upcoming challenges which would affect the manufacturing industries such as the Ringgit depreciation as well as the current global economic issues. En. Rizal Jailan also stressed out the opportunity that was lying ahead and, despite the rough situation, Inokom had attained some great achievements such as the successful export of Hyundai Elantra 1.8 to Thailand, Paint Shop facilities upgrading, new warehouse’s extension and the recent roll out of the latest model in Inokom plant; the Hyundai Tucson. All of these were indicators that Inokom was taking serious about the future challenges and, with the continuous support from all business partners, more great achievements would be attainable, In sha Allah.

The next few agenda during the event were the presentations from 4 related departments by the department heads/ representatives namely; Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Material Management and Localization & Vendor Management. It highlighted the current issues, latest production and volume updates and other important information which were required to be shared with the vendors such as quality and delivery performance and issues.

It was then the highlight of the event when En Mohd Rizal was given the honor to hand over the award of “Top 5 Best Performing Vendors” together with an appreciation certificate. The year had been a good year for the performing companies which were selected to receive the award namely:

  • APM Automotive Module Sdn Bhd
  • Automotive Industries Sdn Bhd
  • Goodyear Sales & Marketing Sdn Bhd
  • Pong Codan (M) Sdn Bhd
  • JM Tomo Sdn Bhd

Right after the award presentation, a Q&A session was held between Inokom and its business partners. The session’s panels, led by En Kamal Azizi together with En Mohd Rizal Jailan and En Adi Wira, answered doubt and queries from the vendors.

The event resumed after the light refreshment break for the final session on Online Vendor Registration (OVR) Briefing and Q&A session which was headed by En Shaiful Azril from the Purchasing Department. The purposes were to update the OVR status by vendors, explain on the OVR categories and, importantly, to stress the significance of OVR and to ensure that all vendors participate in this compulsory activity. This event was successfully held and received good response from the vendors.

The completion of OVR briefing session at 5:00 pm marked the end of the conference. All in all, it was a very successful event with a great atmosphere and warm acceptance from all the guests. Needless to say, it was a great effort from the working committee in making the Inokom Vendor Conference 2014/15 a successful one.
